Sigma Cast and Crew
Sundeep Kishan is the protagonist of Sigma and FAria Abdullah is the female lead. The supporting cast features Sampath Raj, Raju Sundaram, Shiv Pandit, Anbu Thasan, Yog Japee, Sheela Rajkumar, Magalakshmi Sudarsanan, Kamalesh and Kiran Konda. Kishan has garnered good reviews for the carrying of the film, at least in the first half, as his character’s financial woes and bid for survival propel the story to increasingly perilous moments.
The film is Jason Sanjay’s debut as a director and he also wrote the film, along with screenplay contributions from Kaleel Raja, Sanjeev S and Ajaiy Ashok. The film was produced by
A. Subaskaran through Lyca Productions. Thaman S has done the music, Krishnan Vasant has done the cinematography and Praveen K.L. has done the editing of the film. The action choreography, cinematography and music are a great combination that provides the movie with a lot of commercial energy.
Sigma Story Highlights and Plot
The core of Sigma is a man who has to face a serious financial issue. Sundeep Kishan’s character operates a library in honor of his mother, his business is under threat due to a debt that is linked to his family. He is desperate to find something that he can do to make some quick money and enters the world of gambling. Rather than resolve his problems, however, this decision throws him into a much more perilous one.
When he gets entangled with information about a criminal operation, the story takes a huge turn. The pen drive adds another dimension of significance and puts him in conflict with those involved in the drugs trade, illegal gambling and a huge financial scam. The major drama that ensues in the film is said to be linked to a Rs 500 crore racket and the film also brings in valuable lockers and crime groups seeking to get their hands on what they lost.
Thereafter, Sigma transforms into a game of deceit, double-crosses, crime and heist. The film is an attempt at a mix of serious danger with commercial entertainment, and the protagonist’s attempt to survive and solve his financial issues at the same time. The film’s visual presentation and action have received special praise, especially in the reviews, while others have found that the story and acting don’t always support the grand scope of the film.
Sigma Movie Budget
The makers have not published a final budget number which can be confidently quoted. It was however, produced on a large commercial scale and shot in various locations such as Chennai, Thailand, Thalakona and Salem. Sundeep Kishan also said that the production house was on hand to give more time and budget if needed but Jason Sanjay finished the shoot before the allotted time.
Final Thought
It’s an ambitious debut for Jason Sanjay and an interesting entry in Sundeep Kishan’s filmography. It has got the best attributes of commercial scale, action set pieces, energetic presentation and Kishan’s performance. At the same time, the movie does not completely overcome its screenplay and pacing issues. The director’s vision has been noted with praise, and there has been a general consensus that the screenplay could have been tighter. Overall, Sigma is more of an action-heist entertainer than a tightly written crime drama. If you want action, adventure and a rapid-paced commercial arrangement then you’re going to get plenty of this; if you’re looking for a well-polished screenplay then it might not be for you.
